Today we celebrated the opening of the second stage of the outdoor playspace for the Crèche at Austin Health in Heidelberg. The outdoor playspace redevelopment is to provide a natural learning environment and to creatively maximize use of the existing outdoor space.
A Landscape Master Plan for the Crèche was developed by others in 2013, and Jeavons firm was hired to further develop the Second Stage of the master plan for construction. The landscape works were carried out by Melbourne Landscape Co .
The main feature of the playspace is the outdoor classroom with an enclosed nest structure. The nest creates an inviting space for a multitude of uses and was custom designed and built for the Creche. Other elements include a rock circle social area, a discovery box, an indigenous planting area and a raised timber vegetable garden.
