MARY JEAVONS DIRECTOR

Mary Jeavons continues to provide leadership within the firm. She is experienced in the planning and design of children’s spaces of all kinds and those which are accessible to children and adults with disabilities. Mary has carried out important research and advocacy in the field and has written, published and spoken widely in forums in Australia and overseas. She is a specialist in strategic planning for open space, parks and play areas for local government and developers, Australia wide.

BRUCE GRILLMEIER DIRECTOR
B. Industrial Design – The University of Newcastle
Dip. Management – VECCI
Bruce is responsible for practice management and has a design and project management role.
Bruce has over 20 years’ experience in the industry and is highly skilled in managing both small and large scale projects from concept through to construction. He enjoys working with both small and large client groups, committees and other professions to develop ideas into workable concepts and applies his technical expertise and knowledge of standards to resolve complex issues with a practical approach.

LEONG KHOO SENIOR LANDSCAPE ARCHITECT
BApp Sc (Landscape Architecture), RMIT University
Leong Khoo is proficient in the day to day management of projects and undertakes a wide range of design and administrative work. He has designed small pocket parks, regional play spaces, masterplans, traffic design layouts and site assessment plans. Leong also has excellent skills in preparing illustrations for public presentations. Leong’s notable works includes Bicentennial Park Regional Playground in Chelsea and Sovereign Hill Post Office Pond Masterplan.

ANNE FOWLER SENIOR LANDSCAPE ARCHITECT

Registered Landscape Architect AILA
Anne’s role is in the delivery of a diverse range of landscape projects – from master planning to detailed design projects. Anne has extensive experience in managing the process through inception, consultation and collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams and project management. Anne believes it is incumbent on the team to gain an understanding of the aspirations of the client, the brief and the budget and to identify the needs and opportunities of each unique site and project.
Art, plants and planting design are a core interest of Anne’s, structured around built and planted materials selected for their robust and durable qualities; plant selection that is suitable to the site conditions and embodies intangible qualities of joy and beauty.

MELODY MILLER LANDSCAPE ARCHITECT
BA Arts (Philosophy), University of Queensland 2004
Master of Landscape Architecture, University of Melbourne 2012
Melody joined Jeavons Landscape Architects in April 2018 and brings a valuable range of skills to the office. A Landscape Architect with five years’ experience in the profession, Melody has worked in local government, education and residential landscape design.
Experienced in contract administration, quality assurance, design management, construction stage services and community and stakeholder consultation. Melody is also accomplished at creating concept and developed designs, reports and design presentations.

GRACE HONG GRADUATE LANDSCAPE ARCHITECT
B. Environment (Architecture), University of Melbourne 2014
MLArch, RMIT 2017
Grace is a recent graduate who joined Jeavons in 2018. She has previously worked in architectural offices and is experienced in preparing presentations and documentation drawings.
She is able to prepare drawings for presentation using AutoCAD, SketchUp, Vectorworks and Adobe Creative Suite. Her studies and work experience in Architecture allow her to bring a different insight to designing landscapes.
Grace aspires to create quality landscapes which balance social wellbeing and blur the boundaries between natural and built environments.

GEORGE AMOS SENIOR DOCUMENTOR
Diploma of Sustainable Landscape Design (Swinburne)
Cert IV Horticultural Studies (RHS)
George joined Jeavons early 2019 and is a qualified Sustainable Landscape Designer with over 15 years’ experience with landscape design, documentation and construction both in the UK and Melbourne.
An additional qualification in horticulture has given him the foundation to plan and design with balance in mind, highlighting the importance of natural hardscapes against stimulating and supportable vegetated areas.
George has vast experience with preparing landscape plans for council/building permits which has provided him with focus and knowledge of council process, building and development specifications, client brief and planting for purpose.
Environmental acoustics, social sustainability and robust materials are specific, related interests and are incorporated into his thought process when assisting Jeavons Architects with the documentation process.

GEORGE MARANTOS DESIGN DRAFTSPERSON
ADBD, Melbourne Polytechnic 2017
George joined Jeavons in 2017 and is an experienced Architectural Draftsman with a history of working in the architecture and building design industry. He has a variety of skills including in depth knowledge of ArchiCAD and Vectorworks, as well as experience in Sales, Creative Concept Design, and Landscape Documentation.
George previously served as an apprentice in the building industry and applies his acquired knowledge to preparing detail drawings. He has a good eye for detail and for presentation drawings.

LISA ABATE BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION MANAGER
AdvDip Accounting
Lisa has worked in customer service for over 20 years, in industries as wide ranging as manufacturing, tertiary education and retail. Her personal interest in gardens attracted her initially to Jeavons Landscape Architects, where she has provided administrative support to staff and clients for over 10 years.
Lisa is trained in MYOB, bookkeeping and business administration. She manages Jeavons accounts and financial affairs, invoicing, reporting and client liaison.

LUCY HAWKES ADMINISTRATION & OPERATIONS COORDINATOR

Lucy joined the Jeavons team in 2018 to manage the marketing and administrative activities of the practice.
She has a diverse range of work and educational experience in the fields of digital design, publication, research, administration and operations. Over the last decade she has run her own business in commercial photography and design, whilst working in a variety of design and research roles. Lucy is currently undertaking a Master of Design at Monash University.

BREE ELLETT LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTURE INTERN

Master of Landscape Architecture, University of Melbourne (currently studying)
Bree joined Jeavons in 2020 while undertaking her Master of Landscape Architecture. With previous experience working in design studios in both design and administration roles, Bree’s skillset allows her to work across a broad range of design, administration, presentation, and design quality projects at Jeavons.
Through her textile design background Bree has developed a keen eye for detail, and a passion for sustainable practices and longevity in design.

COVID 19 Strategy Update
In order to protect our team members, clients, family members and other immediate contacts, Jeavons is implementing a preventative strategy in order to continue to work effectively for our clients while avoiding direct person-to-person contact.
We will continue to monitor advice from State and Federal authorities, WHO etc and will act accordingly.

Commended at Kidsafe National Awards – The Community Bank Adventure Playground, Wallan
The Kidsafe National Playspace Design Awards are held every 2 years to recognise excellence and innovation in the provision of safe, creative playspaces across Australia.
The Community Bank Adventure Playground in Wallan designed by Jeavons, received a Commendation in the Public Playspaces Category for projects over $1mil. We congratulate Fiona Robbé of Architects of Arcadia whose design for the Jo Wheatley All Abilities Play Space was the winner in this category, along with the other winning entries in their respective categories.

Sovereign Hill Playground Opening
The Sovereign Hill Playground was opened yesterday creating great excitement for visiting school children. The thematic playspace has been designed to cater for users of all abilities. It interprets the journey of prospectors arriving in Australia on a tall ship and moving luggage/passengers overland on a rocking horse coach. There is a water play area to represent traditional mining methods predating the arrival of mining technology, which is then represented by the poppethead. The township and sculptures capture the final progression of prospectors establishing a town with grocery stores,

Bruce Grillmeier Co-Directorship Announcement
We are proud to announce that Bruce Grillmeier will become a co-director of Jeavons Landscape Architects. Bruce has worked at Jeavons for 17 years and is well known to our clients and colleagues. Mary and Bruce have worked in these roles for the past few years and now this partnership has been formalised. The new business structure creates a stable and sustainable future for Jeavons Landscape Architects.
