JEAVONS SHAPES

ABOUT US

Jeavons Landscape Architects design inclusive outdoor spaces for play, recreation, education, and therapy.

We focus on planning and landscape design services for accessible, inclusive children’s spaces.

Jeavons collaborate with architects, planners, educators, local government, community groups and therapists as well as other designers and stakeholders responsible for landscaping, architecture and procurement of high-quality outdoor spaces.

With an emphasis on sustainable landscape architecture, our favourite projects include public park design and planning, contemporary play space design, school grounds, outdoor learning and nature play spaces, early learning centre design, therapy/rehabilitation spaces, sensory gardens, and other horticultural projects.

Thoughtful, Playful, Engaging
Legacy and Culture

The purpose of Jeavons Landscape Architects, through planning and design, is to leave a positive Legacy as we:

  • respond to the connection between the physical environment and human behaviour,
  • remain curious and observe what drives human behaviour in the landscape,
  • advocate for the needs of those who use outdoor space and especially those whose voices are rarely heard in the public realm.

We believe that landscape architecture is not separated from human factors and is not a purely technical profession.

We care about the specific needs of the community at different stages of their lives. This requires curiosity and learning, and an appreciation of the details which make a difference to users in the environment. Caring for people, the environment, and the interactions between them, underpins everything we do.

We take pride in the culture of our own business, in which we care equally for our own team members.

Sustainable Landscape Architecture

Our firm is committed to sustainability throughout our practice; this permeates all aspects of our work. We adhere to the principles of the Australian Institute of Landscape Architect (AILA) that recognise the importance of stewardship in the protection of the natural environment. We place high importance on access to natural environments for people.

An overriding concern is to ensure that the next generation engages with the natural environment in order to care for it and protect it. We are therefore strong advocates for children’s access to nature in every project.

Jeavons places importance on selecting sustainably sourced materials; protection and enhancement of ecological sites and habitat; and minimising waste.
