Westall Community Hub in Fairbank Road, Westall is an integrated community facility in the City of Kingston in south-east Melbourne.

The community hub brings together a library, maternal and child health, education, health and well-being services, playgroups, kindergarten and childcare services into the one place.

Jeavons Landscape Architects designed the outdoor spaces at the hub including:

  • A forecourt that includes a vibrant work of public art set amongst a series of social spaces framed by lush planting
  • An internal courtyard in the centre of the building which provides opportunities for community events and a leafy landscape outlook for staff and visitors in consulting rooms, and
  • The accessible play spaces for the kindergarten and childcare centre.

Pattern, sculptural forms and texture are strong themes throughout the spaces, in the form of paving and other surfaces, such as stone, in contrasting foliage and in furniture. Children can explore and play with water, sand, logs and grow food plants in the garden.
