UNICEF Malaysia Inclusive Playground

November 12th, 2019

UNICEF Malaysia undertook a pioneering collaboration with property developer Sime Darby Property, and the City of Elminah, to build their first inclusive playground, and commissioned a Toolkit outlining the design principles to guide other designers, developers and councils.
Jeavons Landscape Architects:
– presented a seminar and workshop with all participants on inclusive design for play,
– conducted collaborative design workshops with children and families living with disability,
– designed the first accessible inclusive play space in collaboration with Lineworks and Space Landscape Architects, Malaysia,
– Compiled the Best Practice Toolkit Guidelines
The physical outcome of this project is the achievement of Malaysiaโ€™s first accessible and inclusive play space, enabling many children with disability to play for the first time with their friends and family in a public play setting.
