The Children’s Bike Track is part of the larger Happy and Healthy Bike Lane at Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi International Airport.
This is a 23.5km long public cycling track around the airport perimeter. Completed in 2015, this innovative idea utilised a large area of un-used open space and drainage levees to provide a specialist cycling facility for Bangkok.
After noticing the track’s popularity with families and young children, the client commissioned Jeavons Landscape Architects and our team of consultants to create a bike track complex, designed specifically exclusively for children, with the goal of creating a fun experience where they could develop their riding skills.
The Children’s Bike Track is a unique public space in Bangkok, a city with an acute lack of quality outdoor areas, particularly for children and young people.
The client’s vision was to create a free, unique and welcoming destination for children that would encourage time outdoors and promote physical activity.
Featuring nearly 1.6km of trails, the Children’s Bike Track is divided into zones with different skill levels, appealing to a range of ages and cycling abilities. The goal was to create a series of real cycling challenges in order to build skills and develop confidence in young children in a fun setting.
