Most of us take our senses for granted. Our ability to perceive the world, to move through space, to understand even our own shape and form, to interact with the physical world and to engage with and communicate with others relies entirely on our eight senses. Some children have difficulty processing sensory information and this has a profound impact on their physical and intellectual development. We were therefore especially proud to win the AILA Small Projects Award 2017 for the design of the Marnebek School Sensory courtyard which invites children with a range of intellectual disabilities to voluntarily engage in an outdoor space that makes therapy joyful and fun.
Jeavons is happy to announce three awards of excellence from WA Parks & Leisure Australia for Kwinana Adventure Playground; Park of the Year Award, Playspace Award (>$0.5M) and Best Community Program. Our collaboration with Josh Byrne and Associates in Western Australia resulted in a spectacular space built amongst some massive indigenous trees which were protected and preserved for future generations. Our Jeavons Team is excited to announce we are the proud recipients of the ‘Major Playspace Award’ from Parks & Leisure Australia (Vic/Tas), Regional Awards of Excellence 2017, for our design for The Community Bank Adventure Park in Wallan.
We enjoyed collaborating with the Mitchell Shire Council Team and Naturform to bring the vision into fruition.
This award celebrates ‘design that exhibits landscape and structural design innovation that delights and aids childhood development.’
